ENTRY TO LLOYD'S MARKET
My first introduction to the insurance world was through a family member at the age of 16. During a two week placement at a Lloyd's syndicate, I was fortunate enough to gain an insight into the unique and novel business environment that exists in the Lloyd's Market. What really attracted me to a career in the Lloyd's Market was not only the variety of opportunities that the market provides but the importance placed on the relationships between the different parties of the insurance contract in conducting business.

WHAT HAVE I DONE SINCE I JOINED?
I am now five months into my two year graduate scheme at Kiln, a programme that will allow me to experience and learn from the various departments in order to get a complete grasp of how managing agents operate within the Lloyds Market.

My first 9 months of this programme are being spent with the Claims department, where I will end up in just under two years' time. Thus far, not only have I been exposed to the wide variety of claims that can (and do) arise, but also to the vast array of complexities that make each claim unique.

Furthermore, the skills and knowledge that I have acquired since starting at Kiln has also been supplemented by my study for the ACII qualification. For me, the most enjoyable aspect of my time so far within the Lloyd's market has been meeting some of the many different characters that make it such an interesting industry in which to work.
