ENTRY TO LLOYD'S MARKET
I was told about Lloyd's by a friend's father after I had been working for a year in a sales role related to the oil and gas industry and having had a couple of internships with NGOs and private intelligence & security companies before that. 

I applied for the Kiln graduate scheme upon the recommendation of my friend's father and having researched underwriting at Lloyd's online.  I have now found what I have been looking for - a job which has a mixture of being international in nature, intellectually stimulating and social.

WHAT HAVE I DONE SINCE I JOINED?
The Kiln underwriting scheme involves 2 years of 3 month rotations.  Most of mine have involved shadowing the underwriters to Lloyd's and to meetings with brokers while also working on various research projects.  I have spent time with our Accident & Health department, Aviation, Claims, Marine (including Energy and Political Risks), Property (including Motor and Liability), Reinsurance, and Underwriting Management.  Within my first year I had an international rotation in South Africa working at our offices in Johannesburg and Cape Town.

Rugby, travel, literature, and jazz.
